Age: 13

Canon role: Every Dept. Heaven world has its designated butt-monkey race, and Aventheim is no exception. There, the indigenous Lemonoug people have been booted off their lands about three times now by the Knight Kingdom, and now live in the desolate western lands, forced into harsh physical labor by the kingdom. To make it worse, the Lemonoug race has also been cursed by Asgard since time immemorial--they cannot die naturally, but they do not stop aging. However, they still hoped that Asgard would listen to them and help them throw off the kingdom's tyrrany, so they rebuilt the ruins of their ancient tower in a bid to get the gods' attention.
And all they got was a Marietta. :C
Leaving all that complicated stuff aside, Vienya was a young Lemonoug girl whose parents were killed by knights from Aventheim. She was taken in by Vilgo, her tribe's chief, and raised to hate Aventheim for all she was worth. Because of her people's poverty, Vienya constantly suffered from starvation, and was reduced to pickpocketing travelers in order to get food and money.
During one attempt at this, Vienya overheard a suspicious woman (Yellma) talking about the king coming to the western lands. Vienya, who hated the king, alerted her people--it was her only chance to avenge her parents, after all. However, the king was strong enough to kill Vilgo, and when he finally arrived he was just a disembodied soul, which Vienya wasn't too sure on how she was supposed to fight. She and her small force were slaughtered by the king's army of souls for standing in his way.
Apocrypha backstory: Vienya was always a bright girl--even when she was small it was clear that she would become a powerful magic-user, and she was able to summon a familiar (her pet raven, Moja) at the age of six. However, because of her race and poor circumstances, it seemed she would be doomed to suffer her entire life like all the rest of her people. Her parents' deaths when she was still very young seemed to confirm this.
After that time, Vienya was looked after her people's chief, Vilgo, and their elders--particularly Watune. She never spoke a word after her parents' deaths; if she had to communicate, she could always write or get Moja to repeat her thoughts (in rather broken, simple speech) to her conversation partners.
However, Vienya's great skill attracted the attention of many, and she was recently given a paid ride to Apocrypha as long as she declared herself to Maga. Vilgo was quite pleased with the idea of one of their people attending the Collegium, as it might raise awareness for their plight--besides, it would get his charge out of squalor. He was able to persuade Vienya to take the school up on their offer, and off she went.
...Now she just has to work on that pickpocketing thing.
Sample post: She neared the machine, wary. Other people used it just fine every day, she saw them put money in and food and drinks would come out; she just had to copy them, and there were glowy instructions in the box above the selection buttons.
Scolding Moja to shut up (he was squeaking and shuffling on her shoulder, thirsty just like her), she stood with clenched fists and a look of intense concentration on her face for nearly a minute before deciding that milk tea sounded safe enough. Then she put coins into the coin slot, hit the button, and waited.
...Nothing happened.
She pushed the button again, then again, and when it refused to give her the damn drink, she gave the stubborn machine a kick. It still didn't do anything.
Now thoroughly exasperated, Vienya wheeled. Oh, the next sucker to come this way is SO gonna kiss his spare change goodbye.
